Twelve thousand Liters of Water in Two Days

Church World Service continues distributing clean water to the people in eight villages in Sungai Limau sub-district. A total of 12,000 liters of water has reached 10,520 individuals in three villages, while another 70 households have received 700 liters of water bags.
 
Water trucking was conducted in three villages in Sungai Limau sub-district, where the pillow tanks are located. A total of 12,000 liters of water has been distributed in Pasir Baru, Sibaruas, and Duku villages.
 
Up to today, CWS in coordination with French Army, has distributed 700 water bags to 70 households in Pinjauwan, a village not accessible by vehicle. Each water bag contains one liter of water. Two other pillow tanks were handed over to CWS local partner in Padang city, while another pillow tank with 5,000 liters capacity was set up in Padang Pariaman district to support French Army’s water production.
 
Wells are significant water source in the interior of West Sumatra, while the earthquake has left them contaminated with mud. As wells are significant source of clean water in the interior of West Sumatra, up to today, CWS has restored 7 wells in Sungai Limau sub district.
