Church World Service Indonesia to Participate in Women Deliver Conference in Washington D.C, USA

Washington D.C. – Church World Service Indonesia took part in global conference on women’s health, the Women Deliver in Washington D.C., The United State of America on June 7 – 9, 2010. The theme of this conference was Delivering Solution for Girls and Women.

Most organizations, which put a great deal of concern towards reproductive health, maternal and child health, HIV and AIDS, gender, gathered to share and learn best practices of what they have been doing back in their country. The conference was not only participated by NGOs, but it also was participated by some countries government officials, UN, universities and private sectors from all over the world.

The three-day conference focused on political, economic, social/ cultural and technology solutions. Therefore, the organization participants presented their program on how to improve women’s health, maternal and child health in particular, and gender equity in political, social/cultural and technological wise. The conference also tried to emphasis on the role of women and girls in delivering solutions for health and population issue.

Church World Service Indonesia works to improve access of vulnerable communities to health service, mothers and children in particular. CWS also provides technical health assistance and strengthen the capacity of relevant local institution in the areas we’re working. In addition, CWS delivers reproductive and health education to girls and women, including HIV and AIDS program. Currently CWS Indonesia is working on its health and nutrition program in Aceh Province, North Sumatra (Nias), NTT, South Sulawesi (Makassar and Tana Toraja), and also in areas where emergency responses is needed.
