What We Do

           The HIV prevalence rate in Indonesia is relatively low compared to other Southeast Asian countries. However, a high number of new infections is expected in some provinces such as Papua, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Bali and Banten. Furthermore in 2020, an estimated 1,7 million people will be infected with HIV if there is no intensive preventative response.    

           CWS works with local partners to promote awareness of HIV and AIDS issues all around Indonesia. The programs are directed at both general and vulnerable populations including street children, migrant workers, trans-genders, youth and school children. CWS also conducts empowerment training and actively encourages faith communities in HIV prevention. CWS seeks to integrate HIV and AIDS issues into its other programs. Most significantly, since 2005, CWS has integrated HIV and AIDS into the disaster response and recovery programs as disaster and emergency aftermaths can easily increase a population’s vulnerability to HIV.
