FEAT untuk Menghilangkan Stress pada Anak-anak

Salmiati was holding Alif, her baby boy, in her arms, peering inside a tent full of children. “He is very curious about what is happening in the tent and he kept asking me to take him here,” said Salmiati.

The tent was big enough to hold 30 children and their mothers, who took part in fun and educational activities or FEAT, an activity that Church World Service has set up to create children friendly space. FEAT aims at addressing the trauma that children experienced following the recent 7.9 R.S. earthquake in West Sumatra.


Baby Kit is Needed

In post disaster setting children and babies in particular became the most vulnerable ones among the affected community because their need for hygiene care are often neglected. Church World Service conducted an assessment to address this matter in Padang Pariaman district, West Sumatra.


Water Team in Action in Padang Pariaman district


The villagers of Sikapak village in South Pariaman sub-district has relied on water pump to obtain clean water. However the 7.9 R.S. has damaged the water pump and contaminated most of the wells. CWS will coordinate with Plan International to address this matter.


Church World Service Continues to Support Well Cleaning

A sound and clean well is an important source of clean water in rural areas. Church World Service continues to assist the community in Padang Pariaman district to clean their contaminated wells. So far CWS has cleaned 73 wells in Sungai Limau sub-district, Padang Pariaman district, West Sumatra.


Pembersihan Sumur Membangkitkan Semangat Masyarakat

Pak Arifin is an active 57 years old man of Tanjung Medan hamlet in Durian Daun village, one of CWS project sites in Sungai Limau sub district, Padang Pariaman district. He helped us hauling a water pump with 3.5 horse power engine, several 5 inch water pipes and some gasoline onto a well in front of a mosque.

Enam Bersaudara Selamat

The air was stifling hot inside the 12 square meters blue tarpaulin temporary shelter, the new home for six brothers and sisters who survived the West Sumatra earthquake in Pinjauwan Tinggi village. The woman of the house is Junita, 16 years old.


Akses terhadap Sanitasi untuk Lebih dari 50 Rumah Tangga

The water distribution that Church World Service has been conducting also  supports temporary latrine construction in Sungai Limau sub-district, Padang Pariaman district, West Sumatra. CWS has constructed 2 two-stall temporary latrines in Sungai Sirah, serving 49 individuals and another two-stall latrine in Sibaruas village, serving 18 people. A four-stall temporary latrine has been set up in Cangkeh market, Sibaruas village to serve 20 households and market visitors. A four-stall latrine located in a place of worship has served 30 households and another one in a school in Sibaruas village.


Tempat Tinggal Sementara Masih Dibutuhkan

Church World Service continues distributing non-food items to the earthquake-affected community. A total of 45 family tents, 35 packages of baby kits, 58 boxes of kitchen utensils, 105 mosquito nets and 18 buckets of relief kits were handed out in Paninjauan village on October 15, 2009.


10,000 liter air ke Sungai Limau

Church World Service has set up pillow tanks in 9 locations in five villages in Sungai Limau sub-district, West Sumatra. A smaller water tank with 1000 liter capacity has been set up in Paninjauan village, providing access to clean water to 14 households.
