Shelter is one of the basic human needs to keep us safe and protect us from danger such as weather. A 7.9 R.S. earthquake has destroyed a lot of people's house in West Sumatra, Indonesia. A total of 10.602 houses in Padang Pariaman district were collapsed. Most of the affected people tend to stay close from their collapsed houses because of security concern. Some had shelter, some did not.

Considering the importance of temporary shelter after the earthquake for the affected community, CWS has dispatched three trucks carrying non-food item or NFI to Sungai Limau sub-district, Padang Pariaman district. CWS brought 434 plastic mats, 264 tarps, and 200 family tents. CWS has distributed 233 tarps, 359 mats, and 12 family tents in eight villages in Sungai Limau sub-district.

CWS will continue distributing NFI such as mats, tents, and tarps to meet the needs of the effected community in Sungai Limau sub-district, Padang Pariaman district. [IS/10/2009]
